Artist statement: This is my first concentration piece. My concentration is music. I had a guitar layed out on a table with light hitting it from the back to the front to create form and shadows. For creative perspective, i put a tunnel around the guitar, and on the ceiling of the tunnel, I put muscial notes on it. The exciting part about the music is that I used an actual song for the notes- "Stars" by Switchfoot. As you move further down the tunnel, the ceiling gets darker and the floor gets lighter in shadows, to create depth. The idea behind this piece is the amazing quality of how so much talent and inspiration can come from one place or object; in this case, how the music around the ceiling is played using the guitar!

This piece reminds me of a subway tunnel. It's a very innovative idea and I like the perspective.
ReplyDeleteI think the detail on the guitar is very good. What I would do is straight out your pickups because they seem to be "bending" with the body of the guitar, also do the same for the tremolo, it does not look straight enough.
ReplyDeletethe perspective in this piece is really cool, but i think you need more contrast in the guitar, or maybe add a little bit of color into the guitar to make in more noticable in the piece.
ReplyDeleteI think this piece is really interesting because of the directional quality to it. The lines created by the music notes and the guitar really add to the movement in the piece. Also, your attention to detail really enhances the piece.
ReplyDeleteI like the perspective here. It reminds me of a subway tunnel, so it makes me perceive the guitar as being massive. I don't know if that's what you were going for...but I like it.
ReplyDeleteVery realistic and great job on the form of the guitar and the highlights/shadows
ReplyDeleteThis piece has a great sense of depth and movement. You did a great job rendering the guitar. I think this piece can be even more solid if you add more contrast.
ReplyDeletethis is really cool but maybe if you used more varity of the notes it would be more interesting.
